A spokesperson from Godot media, a well-known content writing service company asserted that, “The modifications in Google’s search engine algorithm are expected to significantly impact the entire web content and web industry. The algorithm change will hopefully bring down the number of ‘spam’ websites in search results and reward the more deserving good quality content websites”. Modifications in Google’s search algorithm are likely to impact the existing search rankings of webpages considerably.

Although changes were made in 2010, the Google team perceived the need for further changes to effectively counter content farms. To prevent spam and duplicate content from ranking high in the search results, further modifications were launched in late January this year.

In order to provide the most relevant search results, Google makes use of an algorithm for ranking websites. In this algorithm, over 200 varied criteria, which include use of keywords and link popularity, are taken into consideration. One of the most important criteria for deciding Google search rank of a webpage is quality content.

Google is constantly making changes in its algorithm to counter spam and duplicate content, and provide useful content to users. Godot Media representative said that the primary purpose behind the recent alterations in Google’s search algorithm was to reward the sites offering original content and penalize those offering duplicate content. Unique content has assumed a much greater importance, since the launch of changes in Google’s search algorithm.
